Ripple will host Swell 2026, its biggest yearly conference, at The Shed in New York from October 27 to 29, after a run of bank and stablecoin deals in October that gave Ripple XRP holders plenty of headlines. The price hasn’t followed. XRP trades near $1.32, down 17% in a month.

In the two weeks after each of the last five Swell events, XRP fell.

XRP is down 0.5% in 24 hours and 1.5% in a week. So what is Ripple likely to show in New York, and does the price history say anything useful?

Ripple XRP: What Is Coming at Swell 2026?

A bigger event than usual. Swell 2026 merges Ripple’s finance conference with Apex, its developer event, for the first time. A hackathon runs this weekend, an invite-only institutional summit opens on October 27, and the main stages run on October 28 and 29.

The guest list leans heavily on traditional finance. Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman, CME Group’s Terrence Duffy and Bullish CEO Tom Farley are on the agenda, with executives from BNY, State Street, Barclays and Robinhood. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, President Monica Long and CTO Emeritus David Schwartz will speak, as will Water.org co-founder Matt Damon.

Ripple’s developer team has already pointed to one theme. Its hackathon invites apps built on the XRP Ledger’s upcoming Lending Protocol, now on a testnet preview, and on AI agents that pay for services. XRP Ledger agentic transactions passed 13 million this month, about a quarter of ledger activity, RippleX’s J. Ayo Akinyele said on October 9.

What Has Ripple Announced Ahead of Swell?

Three bank and payments deals in ten days, all built around RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar stablecoin.

  • October 12: Standard Chartered opened RLUSD custody on the XRP Ledger through its Dubai branch.
  • October 15: Cross River Bank built RLUSD on the XRP Ledger into its core banking platform for 24/7 settlement.
  • October 22: Swiss lender Arf agreed to lend RLUSD to payment companies on the XRP Ledger.

There was a lighter moment too. On October 19, Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation launched an official @XRP account on X, which Garlinghouse greeted with “This one has been a long time coming.”

The ledger itself has had a rougher month. Block closing times slowed this week, a bug-fix upgrade slipped to November 4 after validator support briefly dipped, and the Lending Protocol still lacks the votes to go live.

How Has XRP Traded Around Past Swell Conferences?

Badly, once the event ends. We compared XRP’s daily closing prices from a week before each in-person Swell to two weeks after it.

Swell Week before During the event Two weeks after
San Francisco, Oct 2018 +17.6% −10.4% −9.7%
Singapore, Nov 2019 +4.6% −10.7% −16.4%
Dubai, Nov 2023 +12.6% −2.8% −7.1%
Miami, Oct 2024 +3.2% 0.0% −4.6%
New York, Nov 2025 −11.4% +1.6% −10.1%

XRP rose into four of the five events and fell during three of them. In all five cases, it was lower two weeks later, by 4.6% to 16.4%.

That fits the classic “buy the rumor, sell the news” trade. Five events is a small sample, and each Swell came in a different market. Still, this year there has been no run-up to sell into: XRP is down 1.5% in the week before the event.

Ripple XRP Price Analysis: Can $1.30 Hold Into Swell?

XRP has spent ten days between $1.2562 and $1.3992. Wednesday’s push to the top of that range failed, and Thursday’s 4.1% drop took the price back to the $1.30 area, where it has held since.

The first resistance is $1.332 to $1.353, where the 4-hour 50 EMA meets Thursday’s breakdown level. Above that, $1.371 to $1.399 is the real ceiling: the daily 50 and 200 EMAs, the 4-hour 200 EMA at $1.381 and Wednesday’s high. XRP has closed below the daily averages every day since October 12.

On the downside, $1.30 to $1.31 is holding for now. A daily close under it would put the October 18 low of $1.2562 back in play, and below that, the $1.25 area is the last support before the August lows near $1.

A move above $1.40 during Swell would break both the range and the post-Swell pattern. Without one, history points to the event passing without a lasting lift.

Ripple will bring some of Wall Street’s biggest names on stage next week. For Ripple XRP holders, the test is whether those deals finally show up in the price.
