Bitcoin has always had a speed problem, leaving Solana, Ethereum, and other chains to handle high-frequency trading, decentralized finance transactions, and real-world payments.
For Bitcoin evangelists, the friction is obvious: you want to hold your wealth in BTC, but you have to bridge to Solana to do anything with it.
That friction is exactly what Bitcoin Hyper (HYPER) is hoping to solve – and it could change the direction of Bitcoin along the way.
The project has quietly become one of the largest presales of the year, having raised $31.6 million so far with a simple pitch of Bitcoin’s security matched with Solana’s speed.
At a current presale price of $0.0136761, the project aims to unlock BTC’s liquidity, which is currently sitting as dormant capital on the Bitcoin mainnet. Investors can also find a 37% APY via staking
Bringing the SVM to Bitcoin
Once live, Bitcoin Hyper will offer a Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) directly on a Bitcoin Layer 2 network.
The technicalities here are pragmatic: Ethereum’s EVM is the industry standard, but it struggles with the kind of throughput required for order-book exchanges and high-velocity payments and trading (including in the real world, for instance, using crypto at a cash register).
The SVM, by contrast, was built for speed. By anchoring an SVM environment to Bitcoin, Hyper allows developers to write high-speed applications in Rust (Solana’s default language) while settling the final state on Bitcoin.
HYPER works through a Canonical Bridge, where users deposit native BTC into a designated vault address on the mainnet. A smart contract verifies the transaction and mints an equivalent amount on the Hyper L2. This isn’t new technology; bridges have existed for years, but the application of the SVM is the differentiator, effectively turning Bitcoin into a high-speed chain, capable of processing thousands of transactions per second (without clogging the base layer).
Why the Market is Betting on a Bullish 2026 for HYPER
The $31.5 million raise shows the idea of Bitcoin DeFi is resonating, and the premise that a trillion dollars stored in BTC shouldn’t just sit there passively.
The primary driver here is fixing the speed and cost of transactions. Right now, on Bitcoin L1, trading a low-cap token would be financially irresponsible due to gas fees. If you want to swap $50 worth of a new meme coin, you might pay $20 in transaction fees during network congestion.
Similarly, you won’t want to ask a shop to wait for ten minutes while your BTC transaction goes through.
But HYPER solving this by reducing gas fees to fractions of a cent, similar to the user experience on Solana, could unleash a different decade for Bitcoin. And if so, HYPER will quickly climb up the crypto charts, and a 1000x (a double-digit billion dollar market cap) is not off the radar.
Analysts such as crypto expert Borch Crypto has HYPER on his list as a “huge” future project, one that has countless possibilities for uses, and something that can unlock the biggest crypto market cap of them all.
For context, most L2s target Ethereum, which is about a third of the size (by market cap) as Bitcoin. Meanwhile, the market is starving for a place to use on Bitcoin-native assets without the friction of the main chain.
HYPER has received audit reports from Coinsult and SpyWolf, which will likely have eased institutional concerns and helped make the raise bigger. Completed audits also suggest the launch is close, so this might one of the last opportunities to get HYPER at discounted prices.
Big Challenge, Big Rewards
Bitcoin Hyper aims to merge the two most dominant narratives in crypto: Bitcoin’s monetary sovereignty and Solana’s turbo-speed. It is a difficult technical tightrope to walk, but the $31.6 million already committed suggests that the market believes they can pull it off.
For investors, the equation is straightforward. If Bitcoin continues to be the asset of choice for institutions, and those institutions eventually want yield and utility, liquidity will flow to the Layer 2s that offer the least resistance. Right now, Bitcoin Hyper is building the fastest road.
