Right before the weekend, a long-dormant Bitcoin whale stirred the cryptocurrency market with one of the largest notional BTC transactions to date.
On Friday, Galaxy Digital, a global leader in digital assets and data center infrastructure, announced in a press release that it had carried out the sale of more than 80,000 bitcoin, which is approximately worth around $9 billion (based on the current market price).

Though the firm didn’t disclose details about the selling price, it mentioned the sale was part of the investor’s “broader real estate planning strategy.” According to reports, the wallets held BTC since its early years, and made this activity after more than a decade.
Following the announcement, the Bitcoin price experienced slight volatility, dipping briefly below the $115,000 mark. However, in just a few hours, it recovered all the losses and is firmly trading above the $119,000 level.
