Aster (ASTER) is defying the market’s gods this morning by climbing 13%, above the $1 mark, even though most tokens are still struggling to stay afloat.
This week has been disastrous for cryptos as the Federal Reserve questioned its willingness to cut rates once again in December amid President Donald Trump’s ongoing trade war with China.
Most tokens were derailed by the news. Top altcoins, including Ethereum (ETH) and BNB Coin (BNB), booked strong losses and dropped below their key psychological levels of $4,000 and $1,000, respectively.
However, Aster benefited from a credibility boost provided by the former CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, who disclosed a $2 million investment in the token.

CZ is known for making long-term bets in promising projects. Aster is a BNB-native perpetual futures trading platform that competes directly with Hyperliquid.
In just a few weeks, the protocol has managed to climb the leaderboard and has often surpassed its competitor in 24-hour trading volumes in the DEX segment. At the time of writing, its market share sits at 20% compared to 26% for Hyperliquid.

ASTER Reverses Downtrend and Eyes $1.25
ASTER has broken out of its descending price channel and has now moved above a key resistance area at $1 in the hourly chart.
The move is significant, as it means that ASTER is trading above the 200-period exponential moving average (EMA) in this lower time frame.
It creates room for a much stronger increase in the near term, possibly targeting the $1.25 highs seen in November 2. This means a 25% upside potential in the near term. As long as the $1 support holds, the odds of such a move remain quite high, especially after CZ’s pad on the back.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) still favors a bullish outlook for ASTER despite dropping below the 14-period moving average, as it still stands above the mid-line.
Volumes have dried up a bit after moving above $1. Hence, it would be nice to see an increase in buying pressure to ensure that interest persists. Since the market’s overall tone is bearish, traders may opt to cash out from today’s rally quicker than they would in normal conditions.
That could create room for a pullback that late buyers can take advantage of to buy ASTER at a lower price if they expect that the token will keep marching higher toward $1.25, as technical indicators seem to suggest.
