OriginTrail enables seamless data sharing along any supply chain. The decentralized, blockchain-supported network protocol ensures trust, transparency, and security. It helps companies exchange relevant data seamlessly and in a secure way to build accountability, protect their brands and increase efficiencies.
Standards for data exchange Providing interoperability by easy use of globally recognised GS1 standards for supply chain data exchange and common IoT protocols.
Consensus checks within supply chains Ensuring data integrity by cross-reference checks of independently provided data within a supply chain using zero knowledge proof methodology.
OriginTrail Data Storage Decentralised graph database is utilised to get the best performance, scalability and cost-efficiency. It allows for fast and simple manipulation of complex hierarchical supply chain data.
Tamper proof blockchain agnostic system OriginTrail utilizes blockchain of users choice to provide the data mutability protection layer.
Trace token network The Trace token is the means of compensation between supply chain data producers and data consumers on one side and the OriginTrail node holders on the other. It provides the incentive to the nodes in the peer to peer network to perform the system functionalities. Awards, determined by bidding, are without additional arbitrary fees. It is based on the ERC20 token standard.

SCM is a good topic of using block chain technology, because lack of transparency and efficiency. However, SCM is always a very centralized business needs for a special domain, hard to decentralized because most of party unwilling to reveal their critical information. And SCM is high cost to setup and adapt. It's not only the SCM platform issue, but also integration from each party. I am not so optimistic about this plan. High risk for investment.

This one is a bit harder to grasp, but when you do, you can see full of possibilities. It is a protocol layer, so it can interact with any blockchain: Ethereum, IOTA, Neo, Hyperledger… and a whole ecosystem of dapps can be built on top of it. I see a lot opportunities for growth and it is addressing a global industry. looking at the white paper, one can see that they have strong knowledge about the industry they want to conquer with there protocol.

I guess supply chain is one of the most crowded fields that blockchain projects focus on. With this competition, it is hard to be successful.
I believe,

Contributing to transparency in any supply chain is always appreciated - consumers can be sure to get what they buy, and brands get rewarded for trust.
