Le paradoxe est frappant. SharpLink Gaming, l\u2019un des plus gros d\u00e9tenteurs d\u2019Ethereum au monde, vient de voir son action plonger de 12,4 %, alors m\u00eame qu\u2019elle d\u00e9tient plus de 728 000 ETH<\/strong>, soit environ 3,5 milliards de dollars. En cause : une perte comptable de 103 millions de dollars au deuxi\u00e8me trimestre sur le papier seulement. Mais les march\u00e9s, eux, n\u2019ont pas pris de gants.<\/p>\n

Une chute comptable, pas \u00e9conomique<\/span><\/h2>\n

Il n\u2019y a eu ni vente de cryptos, ni piratage, ni crise de liquidit\u00e9. Juste un effet d\u2019\u00e9criture. Aux \u00c9tats-Unis, les r\u00e8gles comptables GAAP obligent les entreprises \u00e0 enregistrer une perte si la valeur d\u2019un actif num\u00e9rique chute au cours du trimestre<\/strong>, m\u00eame si cet actif n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 vendu. C\u2019est ce qu\u2019on appelle un \u201cimpairment\u201d. Et \u00e7a peut faire mal.<\/p>\n

SharpLink a d\u00fb enregistrer 87,8 millions de dollars de pertes<\/strong> simplement parce que le prix de la crypto ETH est pass\u00e9 sous les 2 300 dollars pendant quelques semaines\"Sharplink<\/p>\n

R\u00e9sultat : un d\u00e9ficit trimestriel de 103 millions de dollars<\/strong>, contre \u00e0 peine 500 000 dollars l\u2019an dernier \u00e0 la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode. Tout \u00e7a alors que les tokens sont toujours l\u00e0, bien au chaud dans les portefeuilles de l\u2019entreprise.<\/p>\n

L\u2019un des plus gros tr\u00e9sors d\u2019Ethereum au monde<\/span><\/h3>\n

Sur le fond, rien n\u2019a chang\u00e9. SharpLink reste le deuxi\u00e8me plus gros d\u00e9tenteur corporate d\u2019Ethereum<\/a> au monde, juste derri\u00e8re BitMine<\/a> Immersion Technologies, qui en poss\u00e8de 1,15 million (soit environ 5,1 milliards de dollars). Une position strat\u00e9gique que la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 ne semble pas pr\u00e8s d\u2019abandonner.<\/p>\n

On assiste peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 un glissement de fond :<\/strong> de plus en plus d\u2019entreprises cot\u00e9es th\u00e9saurisent de la crypto ETH dans leurs bilans, comme d\u2019autres accumuleraient de l\u2019or.<\/p>\n

Et avec des pr\u00e9visions de prix parfois stratosph\u00e9riques : 7 500 dollars selon Standard Chartered<\/a>, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 15 000 selon Fundstrat, difficile de leur donner tort. Reste \u00e0 voir si les actionnaires auront la patience de tenir jusqu\u2019au bout.<\/p>\n

Vers une DeFi \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle institutionnelle ?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ce mouvement silencieux de concentration des ETH dans les mains de soci\u00e9t\u00e9s cot\u00e9es intrigue. Certains y voient un catalyseur pour une nouvelle \u00e8re de la DeFi<\/strong> (plus structur\u00e9e, plus r\u00e9glement\u00e9e, plus institutionnelle). C\u2019est en tout cas ce que sugg\u00e8re Vivek Raman<\/a>, analyste chez Etherealize.<\/p>\n

Avec l\u2019essor des ETF crypto et des produits d\u00e9riv\u00e9s li\u00e9s \u00e0 Ethereum, les outils pour s\u2019exposer \u00e0 l\u2019actif se multiplient. Mais les limites comptables, elles, restent inchang\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Le cas du liquid staked ETH<\/a> (LsETH) est embl\u00e9matique : sa valorisation fluctue<\/strong>, ind\u00e9pendamment du prix de l\u2019ETH natif, ce qui complique encore la lecture pour les comptables.<\/p>\n

Un d\u00e9calage de plus en plus difficile \u00e0 ignorer<\/span><\/h2>\n

Il faut dire que le moment s\u2019y pr\u00eate. Depuis la mise \u00e0 jour Pectra en mai, l\u2019ETH a plus que doubl\u00e9, passant de 1 811 \u00e0 4 380 dollars. Une ascension spectaculaire, mais qui n\u2019a pas emp\u00each\u00e9 SharpLink d\u2019afficher une perte. Cherchez l\u2019erreur.<\/p>\n

Ce d\u00e9calage grandissant entre valeur \u00e9conomique r\u00e9elle et traitement comptable pose question. Une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 peut stocker un actif en forte croissance, avec des fondamentaux solides, et pourtant enregistrer des pertes colossales, uniquement \u00e0 cause d\u2019un point bas temporaire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Difficile, dans ce contexte, de ne pas rouvrir le d\u00e9bat sur l\u2019adaptation des normes comptables \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e8re des cryptoactifs. Pour l\u2019instant, rien ne bouge. Et les march\u00e9s, eux, continuent de r\u00e9agir \u00e0 chaud.<\/p>\n

Cette baisse de 12 %, paradoxalement, ne sanctionne ni une mauvaise strat\u00e9gie, ni une erreur de gestion.
