L\u2019analyse du hack avait permis de d\u00e9couvrir qu\u2019une <strong>vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 de la version originelle de GMX avait \u00e9t\u00e9 exploit\u00e9e<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>GMX avait alors propos\u00e9 une prime et l\u2019immunit\u00e9 au hacker<\/strong> s\u2019il acceptait de <strong>restituer les fonds<\/strong>. Contre toute attente, on d\u00e9couvre \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent que le hacker a obtemp\u00e9r\u00e9 en restituant presque toute l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 des 42 M vol\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"la_prime_white_hat_de_gmx_a_porte_ses_fruits\">La prime \u201cWhite Hat\u201d de GMX a port\u00e9 ses fruits<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s <a href=\"https:\/\/icobench.com\/fr\/news\/hack-gmx-pirates-42-millions\/\" rel=\"\">le hack des 42 millions de dollars<\/a>, il y avait peu d\u2019espoir que GMX puisse r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer les fonds. Le<strong> hacker avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 exfiltr\u00e9 les fonds vers un wallet anonyme<\/strong> et les actifs avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 compartiment\u00e9s et convertis.<\/p>\n<p>GMX a choisi d\u2019envoyer un message on-chain indiquant qu\u2019il n\u2019y aurait pas de poursuites si les fonds \u00e9taient restitu\u00e9s sous 48 heures. Mais surtout, <strong>GMX proposait une prime \u201cWhite Hat\u201d d\u2019une valeur \u00e9quivalente \u00e0 10 % du butin<\/strong>. C\u2019est une prime r\u00e9serv\u00e9e aux <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaspersky.fr\/resource-center\/definitions\/white-hat-hackers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">experts de la cybers\u00e9curit\u00e9<\/a> qui aident les entreprises \u00e0 <strong>identifier des failles dans leurs syst\u00e8mes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Mais dans l\u2019univers crypto sp\u00e9cifiquement, <strong>c\u2019est peut-\u00eatre la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019une telle prime est propos\u00e9e<\/strong>. Surtout \u00e0 la suite d\u2019un hack d\u2019une telle ampleur. Rappelons que les hacks dans le secteur crypto sont caract\u00e9ris\u00e9s par la <strong>quasi-impossibilit\u00e9 de restituer les fonds aux victimes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Mais contre toute attente, <strong>le hacker a restitu\u00e9 presque la totalit\u00e9 des fonds vol\u00e9s<\/strong>. En tout, le pirate a renvoy\u00e9 <strong>40,5 millions de dollars en actifs<\/strong>. Mais bien qu\u2019il a restitu\u00e9 40,5 $, il a quand m\u00eame fait un b\u00e9n\u00e9fice de <strong>5 millions $ environ<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>En effet, pendant que les fonds \u00e9taient en sa possession, la valeur des actifs a grimp\u00e9. Par exemple, au cours de la semaine \u00e9coul\u00e9e, <strong>ETH a progress\u00e9 de 400 $ environ en passant de 2\u00a0600 $ \u00e0 plus de 3\u00a0000 $<\/strong>. De m\u00eame, <strong>FRAX est pass\u00e9 de 2,01 $ \u00e0 2,29 $<\/strong> sur la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n<p>En tout, le butin lui a permis de r\u00e9aliser <strong>5 millions $ de gains en moins de 48 heures<\/strong>. R\u00e9sultat des courses : <strong>GMX a perdu 1,5 million de dollars et le hacker a gagn\u00e9 5 millions de dollars<\/strong>. De plus, malgr\u00e9 la menace de poursuites judiciaires, il n\u2019y a <strong>aucune garantie qu\u2019une enqu\u00eate aboutisse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Certes, de plus en plus de plateformes adh\u00e8rent aux lois contre le blanchiment d\u2019argent et adoptent les normes KYC. Mais ce n\u2019est <strong>pas encore la norme dans l\u2019ensemble de l\u2019industrie<\/strong>. Et surtout, les pirates ont rarement recours aux plateformes r\u00e9glement\u00e9es pour rentrer dans leurs fonds.<\/p>\n<p>Ceci dit, <strong>la prime \u201cWhite Hat\u201d prot\u00e8ge le hacker de toute poursuite relative \u00e0 ce piratage sp\u00e9cifique<\/strong>.
