La chute spectaculaire de l\u2019action Circle (CRCL), en baisse d\u2019environ 71 % par rapport \u00e0 son sommet \u00e0 300 dollars, est devenue le nouvel argument choc de Peter Schiff pour affirmer que le trading crypto est termin\u00e9.<\/strong> Mais ce krach boursier signe-t-il vraiment la mort du trading crypto, ou seulement la fin d\u2019une certaine illusion ?<\/p>\n

CRCL, de l\u2019euphorie boursi\u00e8re \u00e0 la douche froide<\/span><\/h2>\n

L\u2019action Circle, introduite en Bourse en juin 2025, a connu un parcours digne d\u2019un altcoin en plein bull run. Ouverte autour de 69 dollars, elle a rapidement grimp\u00e9 jusqu\u2019\u00e0 300 dollars, dop\u00e9e par l\u2019optimisme autour de la crypto et du stablecoin USDC.<\/p>\n

Quelques mois plus tard, le d\u00e9cor a chang\u00e9. Sous la pression des prises de b\u00e9n\u00e9fices, d\u2019anticipations de baisse des taux et d\u2019un march\u00e9 plus exigeant sur les valorisations, CRCL est retomb\u00e9e vers 86 dollars<\/strong>, soit une chute d\u2019environ 71 % depuis son pic et plus de 40 % sur les trois derniers mois.<\/p>\n

\"Circle<\/p>\n

Circle n\u2019est pas un petit projet obscur, mais l\u2019\u00e9metteur du deuxi\u00e8me plus grand stablecoin du march\u00e9, avec pr\u00e8s de 30 % de part de march\u00e9 derri\u00e8re Tether.<\/strong> Voir une telle action crypto se d\u00e9gonfler aussi vite donne l\u2019impression que l\u2019\u00e8re des paris faciles sur tout ce qui touche \u00e0 la crypto est en train de se refermer.<\/p>\n

Peter Schiff enterre (encore) la crypto<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dans ce contexte, Peter Schiff<\/a> n\u2019a pas manqu\u00e9 l\u2019occasion. Sur X, il r\u00e9sume la situation en une formule qui claque :<\/p>\n

Le trade crypto est termin\u00e9. Le titre $CRCL a chut\u00e9 de plus de 70 % par rapport \u00e0 son pic de juin. (\u2026) Les investisseurs assez chanceux pour participer \u00e0 l\u2019IPO restent encore en hausse de plus de 150 %. Mais s\u2019ils ne vendent pas bient\u00f4t, m\u00eame ces investisseurs finiront perdants<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Autrement dit, pour lui, la chute de Circle incarne le d\u00e9senchantement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral autour de la crypto<\/strong>. Si m\u00eame une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9rieuse, r\u00e9gul\u00e9e, li\u00e9e \u00e0 un stablecoin adoss\u00e9 \u00e0 de vrais dollars, voit son action s\u2019effondrer apr\u00e8s une phase de hype, c\u2019est que la th\u00e8se crypto ne tient pas debout sur le long terme. Tout ne serait qu\u2019un grand pari sp\u00e9culatif, bien maquill\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Il faut cependant replacer cette sortie dans son historique. Schiff est l\u2019un des critiques les plus constants du Bitcoin<\/a> et des crypto, et ce depuis l\u2019\u00e9poque o\u00f9 le BTC se n\u00e9gociait \u00e0 quelques centaines ou milliers de dollars. Il a d\u00e9j\u00e0 annonc\u00e9 plusieurs fois la fin du march\u00e9, souvent avant de nouveaux cycles haussiers. Son discours est coh\u00e9rent, mais rarement synchronis\u00e9 avec la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 des prix.<\/strong><\/p>\n

La chute de Circle prouve-t-elle la mort du trading crypto ?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Sa th\u00e8se para\u00eet simple. CRCL plonge, donc la crypto est morte. Mais quand on regarde de plus pr\u00e8s, l\u2019histoire est moins tranch\u00e9e. CRCL reste malgr\u00e9 tout au-dessus de son prix d\u2019introduction.<\/strong> Les investisseurs du premier jour sont encore en plus-value, m\u00eame si le coussin fond dangereusement.<\/p>\n

\"Crash<\/p>\n

Il faut par ailleurs distinguer l\u2019action Circle, le stablecoin USDC et le march\u00e9 crypto dans son ensemble. CRCL est une action de croissance, sensible aux taux, aux attentes de b\u00e9n\u00e9fices et au sentiment sur la tech. USDC, lui, reste \u00e0 1 dollar, pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment parce qu\u2019il est con\u00e7u pour ne pas bouger<\/a>. Quant au march\u00e9 crypto, il continue d\u2019afficher des volumes cons\u00e9quents, m\u00eame si la sp\u00e9culation s\u2019est clairement calm\u00e9e par rapport au sommet du bull run.<\/p>\n

Ce que la courbe de CRCL illustre surtout, c\u2019est la fin d\u2019un r\u00e9cit. Celui o\u00f9 toute entreprise expos\u00e9e \u00e0 la crypto devait forc\u00e9ment valoir un multiple d\u00e9lirant parce que c\u2019est l\u2019avenir de la finance. Le march\u00e9 teste maintenant ce que vaut vraiment Circle sans l\u2019effet bulle. C\u2019est une correction violente, mais c\u2019est aussi un retour \u00e0 une logique plus classique<\/strong>.
